1. Everyone's right to life is protected by law. The death may not be inflicted on anyone intentionally, except by execution of a death sentence pronounced by a court in where the offense is punishable by law.
2. Death is not considered to be inflicted in violation of this article in cases where it results from the use of force made absolutely necessary:
(a) for the defense of any person against unlawful violence;
(b) to effect a lawful arrest or to prevent the escape of a person lawfully detained;
(c) to put down, according to law, a riot or insurrection.
